Power in Prayer

I have grown up around prayer all my life. My earliest memory of prayer is of my Dad and I praying in our living room. I was probably 3, almost 4 yrs old. I knew the importance of it and I loved hearing him pray. I still do! Since then my life has been filled with words of wisdom that were saturated in the Word of God. I can still see my parents sitting at the dining room table with their Bibles open and quietly speaking in their prayer language. I can hear my Dad's deep voice calling out our names as he spoke life and promise over each of his children. I can hear Mom weeping over family members for their salvation. Prayer is deep within me. I would find out when I was a junior in high school how deep it would go.

I was on a drill team in high school and we would perform at the half time of our football games. This was a normal dance routine, but for some reason, whether it had rained or the boys were extra aggressive, there were divots in the field. At the end of our routine we would jump in the air and land in the splits. When I did this my foot caught a divot and my ankle snapped. I remember feeling a sharp pain shoot up my leg and I cried out. As I was leaving the field tears were streaming down my face and people thought it was because it was senior night and I was going to miss my friends. Little did they know that I had snapped my ankle!!! When I got to the bleachers we iced it and I rested the remainder of the game. The next day I couldn't put any weight on it and the swelling alarmed my mom. So, we went to the doctor and found out that it was indeed broken! I had a break that was slowly leading to the growth plate in my ankle! The doctor told us that I would need surgery and I would most likely not be able to dance again especially if they didn't correct it in time. When we got to our truck my mom and I sat there. She asked me if I was ok and I don't think I said yes, because of what she said next. "Angela Kay, you know that your God is a healer! You have seen his healing power more than most people ( I will share that testimony in another post)! Do you believe He has healed you?" I said yes, I knew that much! "Honey", she went on to say, "You have had faith poured into your life, and now it's your turn to stand! You can't live off of your Daddy and my faith any longer!' WHOA! That was some hard truth! **So many of us do that with Pastors and teachers a like and then get mad when our prayers aren't answered!** I knew she was right! She went on to say that she would stand with me as a sister in Christ, but I needed to pray and speak healing to my body! All I remember is my heart crying out to God for healing. I remember telling my ankle to line up with the word of God that said that by the stripes of Jesus I was healed! That God put this desire to dance in my heart and I wanted to continue to do this! As I squeezed my moms hand in the cab of our pickup truck I felt my faith rise up to a new level!

Two weeks later I returned to the same Doctor for my follow up appointment. We took x-rays of the ankle and PRAISE GOD....NO BREAK WAS FOUND! Not even a hair line fracture! I was healed and it baffled my Doctor beyond words! He asked to keep my x-ray LOL! When I went back to school without my special boot, many friends thought I faked the whole thing. But I knew, my parents knew and that Doctor knew! I want you to know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever! He will never leave you in time of need! And He wants to prosper you and give you hope. Our prayers need to line up with that. Fill your heart faith! How do you do that? I'm glad you asked! You fill it by reading the word of God, speak it over your life! So your flesh can hear the word of God! WE serve a God who created this world with words! Jesus IS the Word! So when we speak is creation making words into our lives, we move mountians!! You have to step out into the unknown where Jesus is and take the Father of All by the hand and watch your world produce mountain moving miracles! Here are some scriptures that you can use to build your faith and help your prayer life! I have to say that prayer is more than begging God to fix a situation. It's using what He's already done to speak His will into existence.
